Helping one homeowner buy solar with confidence.
A detailed assessment, the right installation partner and a completed system the customer is delighted with.
The installation was the outcome. The evidence came first.
Rather than beginning with a product or a sales proposal, we began by understanding the property, the roof, the existing electrical installation and the practical route from survey to completion.
Evidence before advice. Advice before installation.
Measuring what was really possible.
The drone survey provided an accurate view of the roof's size, shape, condition, obstacles and surroundings before any final recommendation was made.
The starting point
A clear aerial view allowed the usable roof area to be measured while accounting for the chimney, ridge, eaves and roof edges.
Accurate layout planning
The near-vertical view gave the information needed to test panel layouts properly rather than relying on a satellite image or an estimate.
Providing clarity before panels were fitted.
The homeowner already knew that storm damage had caused some slates to slip and had arranged an insurance assessment. The drone survey provided an exact visual record of the affected areas and the amount of repair work required.
The roof was repaired first, so the new system could be installed onto a sound and properly prepared surface.
Solar design goes beyond the roof.
The electrical supply, consumer unit, loft construction, access and proposed cable routes were all reviewed so the installation could be planned before work started.
Existing electrics
The consumer unit was inspected to understand the existing circuits, available protection and any work that might be required.
Incoming supply
The meter position and incoming electrical equipment were recorded as part of planning a compliant, practical installation.
Internal access
Potential routes through the property were considered in advance to minimise disruption and avoid unnecessary visible cabling.
Loft and roof structure
The roof space provided evidence about the timber structure, access, insulation and the practical route for installation work.
Choosing the right installer, not simply accepting the first proposal.
After reviewing the property and the available choices, the homeowner selected a different installation partner from the one behind the original proposal. The completed project was more than £4,000 lower in price while still delivering the system, workmanship and support the homeowner wanted.
- 1
Assess the home
Measure the roof, understand the property and identify anything that should be resolved first.
- 2
Compare suitable choices
Consider installer suitability, system design, workmanship, protection and overall value, not price alone.
- 3
Proceed with confidence
Move forward only once the homeowner understands why the recommendation suits their home.
A balanced layout designed around the property.
The finished array sits neatly within the available roof area, with clear margins and a carefully proportioned layout.
Designed to fit the roof
The installation uses the available space effectively without making the array appear crowded or improvised.
Workmanship you can see
The closer view shows consistent alignment and a clean, orderly finish across the array.
The standard of work matters off the roof too.
The inverter, battery storage and isolation equipment were positioned in the surveyed location, creating an accessible and professionally finished installation.
Complete energy system
The inverter and twin battery units have been grouped logically, with clear access to the equipment and isolator.
A neat final result
The side view shows how the installation sits within the sheltered external space while remaining accessible for future inspection and maintenance.
Strong performance, even without a due-south roof.
The system has already recorded peak output above 5 kW in favourable conditions. It is a useful reminder that roof orientation is only one part of good solar design.
"Danny made the whole process easy from start to finish. He took the time to assess our home properly, explained everything clearly and never put us under any pressure. We felt confident we were making the right decision because the advice was based on what suited our home, not on making a sale. The installation was completed professionally, we're delighted with the finished system and would happily recommend Danny and The Solar Broker to anyone considering solar."

Most homeowners don't need more quotes. They need better information.
We assess your home, explain the evidence and help you understand the most suitable way forward, before you commit to an installation.
